2011年12月18日，中国中央电视台CCTV-1《首席夜话》节目邀请国家汉办主任、孔子学院全球总干事许琳作为主嘉宾，同时邀请全球著名文化传播机构歌德学院、塞万提斯学院负责人以及相关领域专家为文化观察员，以国际化的视角理性分析以孔子学院为代表的中国文化走出去所取得的成果、积累的宝贵经验，以期进一步探索中国文化全面走出去的更多有效途径，并为推动中国文化的对外交流建言献策

On December 18, 2011, Shou Xi Ye Hua, a Program broadcast by CCTV-1 (China Central Television), invited Xu Lin, the Director-General of Hanban and Chief Executive of Confucius Institute Headquarters as a main guest along with the Directors of Goethe Institute and Instituto Cervantes, world-famous institutes aimed at cultural transmission, as well as experts in related fields. They served as cultural commentators who offered a rational analysis from an international perspective, appraising the achievements made and valuable experiences gained in Chinese culture promotion by Confucius Institutes with the purpose of further exploring more effective approaches for overall promotion of Chinese culture and generating suggestions for promoting the international exchange of Chinese culture.
